Lessons Learned

You learn as life goes by
Just how fragile it is
There's no stopping time
Or changing the past
There's only making the present
Exactly what you want it to be.
People will come and go in your life
Each one adding something valuable
You can place in your jar of knowledge.
No one is exactly who you want them to be
Nor should you try to make them.
Until you really love yourself,
You'll never be able to love another.
Relationships don't complete you
Or even show you who you are-
You must find that on your own.
Relationships merely complement you;
Add to your life.
They, although important, are not your reason for existence
The moment you begin to rely on someone else to complete you,
Or to help you reach your full potential-
It's called dependence.
And you've lost your sense of self.
And only when you are independent can you have a happy, healthy relationship with another...
Just another lesson you learn as life goes by.
Be who you are.
Be happy.
And don't rely on anyone other than the only One who is reliable.
